"I guess you're not on this Rolleigraphy page for text only. If you like, take a look at some of my slides".
For many years these have been the opening lines of my gallery page. It was one of the older sections of the site and I must admit I was a bit embarrassed when I took a look myself in February 2007. The major update that was promised in 2004(!) was more than overdue. In the mean time I had planned to move the complete site to a cheaper hosting service and to reorganise the directory structure. The gallery section had to be included in the work. Quite a lot of old stuff is gone and I decided to include only those images I really like.
I still have the Rolleiflex 2.8 GX but most of the images have been made with a Rolleiflex 6008i. Since retirement from community pharmacy in 2003 I have immersed myself into landscape photography. As result I wanted to use graduated neutral density filters. It is much easier to do that on an SLR than on a TLR. Off course the SLR offers the possibility of using a wide-angle or long lens. The filters used were made by Lee. The Rolleiflex was mounted on a Manfrotto 410 geared-head resting on a Gitzo G1329 tripod. Gitzo have changed the numbers system several times, so the number 1329 from the French "acien régime" is not very informative anymore. It is a 3 Series, carbon fibre, 3 section tripod. The GX remains my favourite town camera. It is much lighter and graduated ND filters are pretty much useless in town anyway. Quite often I use the TLR hand held but I do carry a Gitzo Traveller with a Rolleifix just in case.
In recent years I have purchased a used Linhof Master Technika and in October 2009 I took classes in Large Format photography with David Ward and Joe Cornish. My first attempts are shown in the Peak District folder.
The images were scanned on a Nikon Cool-Scan 9000 ED scanner with the glass film holder using Nikon Scan 4 scanning soft-ware or Vuescan, except for the 4x5 inch slides. Those were scanned on the old Epson Photo 3200.
